People may ask
us: "Why are you taking candid shots of people's shoes and feet without
their knowledge?" May we ask them: "Aren't they wearing those
anklets and toerings, or exposing their meticulously painted toenails for us to
notice?" or "Would it be different if we took pictures of their hands
or faces?" How many times have you been in a situation where someone was
filming or photographing something or somebody else and you walked right in
front of their camera? Would you be worried now that your face is displayed in
someone else's photo album or taken a few bytes of memory in someone's digital
camcorder?
We can justify our position. If the shoes or feet are exposed and available to
the public to notice, then taking pictures of them should not be a big deal!
These bystanders are not even aware that we are photographing their feet. Besides,
we have not displayed their names or faces on this site or revealed their
identity. We don't even know who they are and we don't really care.
Furthermore, we have not used these photos in a negative, unethical, immoral or
derogatory way. In a nutshell, we haven't bothered anybody, ruffled any
feathers, or hurt anyone's feelings.
Here's how we look at the situation: If you can look at those feet in public
for a few seconds while you are crossing paths, why not for more than a few
seconds?They are just feet, and
we all have them.
